- Borealis, through its Borealis Social Fund, supports ZOOM Children’s Museum in Vienna and celebrates opening of new hands-on exhibition “WELCOME TO THE FUTURE!” on October 4, 2023
Borealis, one of the world’s leading providers of advanced and sustainable polyolefin solutions, has been one of the three main sponsors of the ZOOM Children’s Museum in Vienna, Austria since 2013. Following the successful exhibitions “PLASTICS” in 2015 and “EARTH & SOIL” in 2019, Borealis is also this year's partner for the new interactive and hands-on exhibition "WELCOME TO THE FUTURE!" which deals with future topics and challenges.
At hands-on stations and in workshop settings, potential everyday situations of tomorrow’s world can be experienced playfully by using all senses. For this purpose, ZOOM has transformed the exhibition hall into a Future Lab where artists, scientists, and experts from a wide variety of areas contributed their ideas for our future. A highlight of the exhibition is the digital planetarium of the Natural History Museum. Responsible for the architecture of the exhibition is the architecture collective AKT, which represents Austria at the current Venice Biennale.

The new hands-on exhibition can be visited as of October 4, 2023. From Tuesday to Friday, school classes have free access in the mornings, and the exhibition is open to private visitors in the afternoon, as well as all day on weekends, public holidays, and school holidays.

About ZOOM Children’s Museum
The ZOOM Children's Museum is a private association that enables children and young people to engage with various topics from art, science and culture in a playful way and with all their senses. Through encounters with art, dialogue with artists and joyful, open-ended activities with others, individual abilities and interests are recognized and further developed. The Children's Museum creates spaces in which new things can be tried, discovered and explored in a relaxed atmosphere and at one's own pace. Exhibitions, play stations, objects, artistic installations and workshops designed according to the hands-on principle arouse curiosity and stimulate children's creativity.
The ZOOM Children's Museum is a central part of Vienna's children's culture and part of the MuseumsQuartier Wien, one of the largest cultural areas in the world. This special location has also had a significant impact on the content of the Children's Museum: ZOOM is more oriented towards art than many other children's museums and is a place of interaction between children and artists.
On 1,600 square meters, ZOOM offers four different areas for visitors up to 14 years of age: the ZOOM hands-on exhibition for children from 6 to 12 years of age, the ZOOM Ocean play area for children from 8 months to 6 years of age, as well as the workshop areas ZOOM Atelier for children from 3 to 12 years and the ZOOM animated film studio for children and young people from 8 to 14 years of age.
